Parallels is the story of Shane, who crosses the continent in his oversized Oldsmobile. In the company of Dorothy, an extroverted teenager, the unspectacular road trip soon turns into a psychedelic odyssey, during which the odd couple must deal with aggressive pro-lifers, a midget school bus inhabitant, and a depressed waitress.
At the same time, Parallels tells the story of the narrator, a hypersensitive twenty-something in search of a preferably uneventful job. As an assistant at the copy room of his former college, he experiences the joy of daily monotony - until the day an encounter with an unknown girl brings upon the dreaded change and leads to a dangerous rendezvous.
As the story progresses, both plot lines start to entwine, creating a tangled web of opposites and similarities, coffee and art, reality and imagination. Read more
